Willard – a Life Under Canvas by David Charvet (Book)

The story of the four men who performed under the name Willard the Wizard reads like a roller coaster ride made up of triumphant highs and tragic lows. Working closely with author David Charvet were Harry Willards grown children Eugene Madeline and Frances who spent many years during their youth traveling with and performing in their fathers show. David had access to not only what the audience saw on stage at the Harry Willard show but also what was happening backstage. This is the ultimate behind the scenes story of a traveling tent show as told by those who lived it. Combining these firsthand accounts with David relentless research has produced a unique slice of magic history. Willard – A Life Under Canvas is number 14 in our series of Magical Pro-Files. It contains 370 pages with 276 photographs and because the entire book has been printed in two colors we were able to print many of the photos in duotone giving them the feel of a hot dusty tent show. Eight pages of full color show Willard in action along with some beautiful portraits of his well-worn apparatus. The tent-show feel continues with the printed endsheets and onto the binding with a canvas cloth on the front and back covers and Skivertex simulated leather on the spine. This edition is limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies. Pages 300 – 11 x 8.5 – Hardcover – Lavishly illustrated with 276 photographs and 8 pages in full color…. Ray Goulet – Recollections of a Renaissance Man by Frank Dudgeon With Ann Goulet (Book)
February 24, 2012 by admin · Leave a Comment
When talking about magic and show-biz happenings during our Saturday magic group sessions and at other magic gatherings I have often been told I should put my stories in a book. I have done a lot of things in my life but writing is certainly not one of them. Frank Dudgeon a Saturday regular at the Magic Art Studio while living in the Boston area expressed a willingness to take on the task. However if there was to be a book I did not want it to be all about me. Instead I wanted it to include the friends I have made in magic and those in show-biz as well. I consider these friends a big part of my life… You will find many photos in this book and though all are not included here there is a story behind each one. Ask and I will be happy to share one with you. There is an old saying in show business I have had a good run. To that I will add And I have enjoyed every minute of it. – Ray Foreword by John Calvert. No expense was spared with the production of this hardcover book with dust jacket LOADED with color photographs showcasing the many aspects of Rays life along with his Mini-Museum of Magic. You will enjoy the many personal stories of the Goulets days in show business the people they met and friendships they made. This is one publication you will not want to miss and will be proud to have in your library

Razor Wire by Andrew Mayne (Booklet)

Andrew Mayne presents the latest effect in the Illusion Impact series. The magician stands behind an audience-examined barrier of razor-sharp barbed wire. He raises a cloth in front of him with the top of the barrier still visible. He takes a step forward and lowers the cloth revealing that he has passed through the barrier unscathed. Razorwire is a one-person illusion that can be built for under 100 and can even be made to fit inside a briefcase. Just a few tools are required and only basic carpentry skills are necessary. Razorwire is described in a 12-page 8.5 x 11 manuscript with scaled blueprints and photographs.
