Up Levitation by Michael Boden and Troy Hooser – Trick

Effect A deck of cards cuts itself by levitation to reveal a spectators selected card or to magically find your favorite four of a kind. If you have ever wanted to perform a levitation close up and personal without the many drawbacks of prior methods NOW YOU CAN No more threads No more magnets No more gimmick decks (YES you can just as easily use a borrowed deck) Michael Boden and Troy Hooser are releasing the UP LEVITATION gimmick to the magic community with the realization of… yes a levitation that looks this good… can easily be accomplished by the everyday performer. The gimmicks brilliant design takes the worry out of is this a levitation I will actually use The UP LEVITATION gimmick has been designed to be worry free of extensive set ups or concealment. Now you can use a normal deck of cards that has been in play or even borrow one without having to worry about how difficult it is to get in and out of the effect. The spectators freely selected card is returned to the deck and the deck is openly ribbon spread upon the table (showing the lack of card control and hand concealment of any kind) the deck is then squared and openly held in you left hand as the magic begins… the deck slowly separates levitating upwards dividing itself into two halves..

Villain by Kevin Parker (DVD)

January 30, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Kevin Parker has created an impromptu ring flight that uses no reels devices long sleeves or clothing requirements weird angles pulls or any hook-up that carries the ring to your keyring it uses no gimmicks whatsoever and is a ring-flight you can do anywhere you go without having to bring anything special with you. The vanish is a miracle in itself in that not only are you not standing at weird angles or holding the ring close to you but it completely disappears in a loose casual manner away from your body without going up any sleeves and leaves both hands completely empty. Then without any additional moves magician simply pulls his keys out of his pocket and theres the ring visibly and clearly hanging from his keyring. That is THEIR ring not a second ring preloaded on the keyring. You remove the ring and give it back along with the keys and theres absolutely nothing to find. This can even be performed with a spectators keys and such a version is taught on this DVD. Kevin Parker designed Villain with cleanness and simplicity in mind for zero nervousness performances. I cant stress how much I love it already I mean its SO simple yet clever and brilliant. I remember wanting to pick up the Departure (I believe it was called) Ring Flight which cost 50 but didnt want to deal with the weird angles with the hook-up and etc. Luckily I didnt pick it up because this one definitely beats any ring flight Ive seen.

The Contortionist by Michael Giles

January 30, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The magician takes two cards from a regular deck one of them being the queen. He proceeds by telling the audience about the circus and all the side shows particularly about The CONTORTIONIST. With the queen representing the flexible little dynamo he begins to fold the two cards and demonstrates. Placing the queen behind the other card and in a crisscross pattern he zigzags the top half of the queen from the bottom. After the spectators put their tongues back in their mouths he restores the queen back together again. The magician clearly shows this to be the case. He shows both sides of the cards to prove that only two cards are being used. Having no mercy for his audience the magician folds the two cards (the queen lengthwise and the odd card width-wise) so that only the backs of the cards are seen. The queen is nestled inside the fold of the odd card. He then pushes the folded queen through the odd card and the queen turns face-up still folded (in a Card-Warp fashion). Knowing that there may be magicians in the crowd the magician opens the folded cards. Leaving them in an unfolded and crisscross pattern he then proceeds to push the face-up queen under the face-down card causing half of the face-up queen to turn face-down. Impossible He proves this to be true by tearing the queen in half and showing half to be face-up and the other half to be facedown. The best part is while the audience is bowing to the magician he repeats this effect with only the torn halves Use your regular deck of cards with no added extra gimmicks to perform The CONTORTIONIST Complete with DVD performance and instructional video plus DVD-ROM contents featuring the original manuscript by Michael Giles in PDF format. Running time Approx 34mins… Read more at our Magic Shop – World-of-magic.co.uk

Thawer Quality Magic Vol 1 by Glenn Gravatt Catalog Instruction Sheets They dont make em like that any more is an oft heard expression. This could well apply to the magical apparatus made by Floyd Thayer in the 20s and 30s. The Thayer slogan Quality Magic was no idle boast. The workmanship was equal if not superior to the best including Roterberg Conradi Bartl and Willmann. Many years ago by a stroke of good luck a fortunate combination of circumstances I acquired a complete file of Thayer instruction sheets designed to accompany the apparatus. this just may be the only complete collection of Thayer secrets in existence. Recently I happened to mention this to Lloyd Jones who urged me to compile these instructions in book form stressing the tremendous value of such a collection to magicians
